异端

【一个新派的悔语】有一个著名的批评家，蒙主领他回头过来。有一次他来加拿大讲道说，「昨日我收到我的旧同学去世的电报。因我曾在他生命里撒疑惑的种子，他就舍弃牧师的工夫，去作律师。昨夜是我一生最烦恼、最黑暗的一夜。我领他走迷了路；但是我绝不能再领他回来了！今已太迟了！奈何？」

【异端常带着极端的神秘性】「玄」与「神秘」原是每一个异端的特征，不是他们的道理玄妙，就是他们的首领戴着神秘的面纱。窥探神秘是人类的天性，撒但就是利用这种天性引人掉入牠的陷阱。总之，神秘是异端吸引人最厉害的武器。─ 沉保罗《真知灼见》

【不可被异端迷惑】异端是撒但攻击我们信仰的最厉害的武器，它用异端来迷惑人，使人误以假为真，远离真理；它用异端弄瞎人的心眼，使人看不见福音的真光！有的异端竟用基督与神的名字，如摩门教、统一教、圣父教会(Divine Father Church)、耶和华见证人、基督教科学会等；他们事实上是基督教最大的仇敌。有的异端完全披上东方神秘主义的道袍，用轮回、交鬼、天象、占卜等迷惑众生。有的异端以锻炼身体为名，久而久之令人走火入魔，完全被钳制。特别在这个时代，异端更是五花八门，无奇不有。─ 沉保罗《真知灼见》

※ 『异端』希腊文hairesis原意『选择』。它的本意并非不好，是指个人所选择的信条。

※ 彼得后书所说的『异端』是指否认基督救赎及随从邪恶的人，这部向今日有的教会所泛指的异端，凡认为与自己看法不同的就称呼别人为『异端』，这是很危险的。

He is a professor at USC, one who does everything he can to turn young people away from Christianity. He also falls into the category of an apostate, somebody who knows the truth, has all the information about the truth, and willfully turns his back on the truth for his own pursuit.―― John MacArthur

【Apostasy, Development of】A story is told of a man who, resisting the cost of oats he fed his mule, decided to gradually substitute sawdust in its diet. Everything went fine for a while—but by the time the mule was satisfied with sawdust, he died.

The same is true spiritually. The changeover from truth to error is sometimes a slow process, and the people don’t always know the difference. But, before you know it, they are dead.

【Apostate】One writer said of apostates, “One is reminded by way of contrast with the Lord, whom these men deny. He is the rock of our salvation; they are hidden rocks, threatening shipwreck to the faith. He comes with clouds to refresh his people forever; they are clouds that do not even bring temporary blessing. He is the tree of life; they are trees dead. He leads beside still waters; they are like the restless troubled sea. He is the bright and morning star heralding the coming day; they are wandering stars presaging a night of eternal darkness.”

【Cults, Recruits of】Dr. Margaret Thaler Singer, a psychologist at the University of California at Berkeley, said of people the cults seek to recruit: “About one-third are very psychologically distressed people. The other two-thirds are relatively average people, but in a period of depression, gloom, being at loose ends, such people are vulnerable to well-planned recruitment techniques.”

【Cults, Response to】When the FBI trains staff members to identify counterfeit bills, they are not required to study fake money. Instead they undergo a thorough study of genuine currency as the best preparation to identify counterfeit money. Believers should approach cults in the same way. If they do, they will experience similar results.

【Doctrine, False】I once saw a card that said: “Old fishermen never die—thy only smell that way.”

That surely describes false Christianity. It never dies—it only smells that way.

【Doctrine, False】Fire ants have virtually taken over the southern United States since they were accidentally transported here a few decades ago. They are amazingly adaptable, fiercely aggressive, and multiply seemingly overnight. Worst of all, insecticide sprays generally can’t destroy the mound’s inhabitants. Like a mighty army they have marched in, impervious to brute force.

Scientists have now found a rather crafty way to wipe out whole colonies. Pellets of the ants’ favorite food are tainted with a special tasteless, odorless poison and sprinkled around the mound. The worker ants immediately begin gathering up the tainted treasure and take it down into the heart of the colony. Then they unwittingly feed the poisoned pellets to their queen, slowly killing her! When the queen dies, no more workers are produced, and so in a couple of weeks the entire colony starves to death. How ironic! Food that looked so good caused their starvation.

That is how it is with false doctrine. Those who lack discernment import it into the heart of the church, thinking it is harmless and in fact quite good. If any wise “ant” smells the poison and protests, he is ridiculed! And in the end the next generation starves to death spiritually.

【Doctrine, False】In an examination at a Christian school, the teacher asked the following question: “What is false doctrine?”

Up went a little boy’s hand, and there came this answer: “It’s when the doctor gives the wrong stuff to people who are sick.”

Although the little boy had obviously confused doctrine with ‘doctorin’, he arrived at the correct definition.

【Doctrine, False】The seriousness of errant doctrine can be compared to a missile aimed a mere one degree off target. The difference seems slight and negligible at first, yet the results of the error increase dramatically throughout the flight of the missile, until it totally misses its intended target.

So it is with false doctrine. At first it may seem to be a tolerable mistake, a little error—but not that serious. But, as with all errors, the effects compound over time until they become so serious that they may not be correctable.
